Activities :

The Powell River Lions Club has a history dating back to 1946.Due to poor membership, the club folded in 1984, but bounced back with a new charter in 1992. The membership is a small dedicated group, but the contribution to the community is huge and varied.

Participating in every aspect of Powell River town life, the Lions Club fundraises in many unique ways:
-distributing water at parades and special events,
-selling shortcake at the Blackberry Street Festival
-Bingo twice a month
-"Coats for Kids" in partnership with The Salvation Army
-"Coins for Kids"- BC Lions Society for Children for with Disabilities
-sponsoring annual Santa Claus Parade
-supporting financially the B.C. Lions Society for Children with Disabilities Camp Winfield
-participating in Powell River Association for Community Living- Festival of Trees
-bursaries for post-secondary education
-major participation in the biennial Kathaumixw International Choral Festival
-supporting food banks
-supporting CNIB
-Lions Mint Sales
-financial support for families staying at Easter Seal House
-medical equipment for those unable to raise the funds elsewhere
-Lions Charities
